“People who are out of work are volunteering to stay connected to their communities and to hone their job skills,”……
I have always loved volunteering as a way to gain experience and On Job Training (OJT) in areas where I might otherwise never had the opportunity to do so. I have found it a wonderful way to meet people from all walks of life that I wouldn’t have gotten to otherwise. Sometimes the people I met have opened doors for me, when I didn’t even ask.
Joseph F Bentivegna M.D. wrote a book about the year he spent in Haiti. In the introduction he asks why he was born in America when he could have been born in Haiti, a beggar in India, or a Cambodian child watching his parents be slaughtered.
We can always do something to help others even when we think we have so little.
And in doing so we open up the door for blessings to pour in on ourselves.
Luke 12:48 From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
